                        The first half was end to end football with the Ashes creating

                 several chances on a very wet pitch but poor finishing was the order

                 of the day.

                        At the centre of most of the Ashes attacks was Gavin Coulton

                 who had complete control of the mid-field.

                        The second half followed the same pattern as the first with the

                Ashes looking the team most likely to score.Even so Ashes keeper

                Ben Elphick had to make a couple of smart saves before Sam Hughes

                scored the only goal of the game.

                         With 70 minutes on the clock Saltash broke out of defence with

               Aaron Cusack sending Ross Saint down the left wing and his cross

               was met by the hard working Hughes who fired home from close range.

                         With an Ashes squad already stretched both Luke Doddridge

               and Dave Smith both limped out of the game midway through the

               second half.
